You cant, if the computer is "too broke" to get online.

You have to start with calling that person through skype or yahoo voice from your computer, then you can wak her through the process of checking whether she has all the stuff all intact so that that you can both get on live messenger.

If that does not help, let me know, and I can show you more little "tricks" or ways to get around that...

I keep getting popup notifications for random emails, they seem to be spam as they have dodgey names. The thing is, when I click the popup to take me to my inbox, it says -

"The message you selected could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted. Please click the folder again to refresh the view."

When I refresh, it takes me to the same page, and when I click on my inbox, there isn't any email there? Not in my inbox OR junk folder.

Also, in Windows Live Messenger, it says I have 6 new emails, when I don't? Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Now, here's the beauty of it: I've searched up Windows Live Messenger everywhere and it brings me back to the same page, http://get.live.com/messenger/overview, with the option to download, but when I click on the download button it just goes to the "page cannot be displayed" page and this is really and truly starting to piss me off. It got nothing to do with Vista. Windows Live Messenger is compatible with Vista. The websites might be down for maintenance purposes or are upgrading. Another website that you can try searching for is www.download.com but if their server is down then i don't think that you will be abe to download from that sites either because they would still lead you back to window live messenger sites to download the file.

Get a friend or someone to send you the setup file would be the best option now.

Hi can someone please help me, I'm having trouble with my Windows Live Messenger V8. I never automatically sign in, I always put my password in to connect. When I put my password in (7 caracters), it makes it more caracters long %26amp; it takes ages to sign in. When it eventually signs in, it says connection error, and the Windows Live Today has script errors too.

I've repaired it a few times now %26amp; I've even reset my password, but it still does it. There are 4 other people in my office that uses MSN messenger, but they don't have the same problem I have.

I have just started using AVG and when I am on Windows Live Messenger and someone sends me a pic or music it tells me my antivirus settings are wrong.... when you at the file transfer part in the messenger, you will have to have

or something similar.... what i mean it its the actual part in your virus program that scans the viruses not just the folder that the anti-virus is in... i.e. here's what mine has

As you can see it has the anti-virus there but it also has the actual part of the program that scans for viruses... so when you change it just go through a few of the programs that are actually in the AVG folder and see if that works
This is definitly a corrput file. OR it is a virus trying to make you change your settings to allow it in. Follow these help lines and it should work. (PLEASE NOTE AVG is a free anti virus which does not protect against every virus and it's anti virus updates do not give you full protection it will mark some system files as viruses and destory them damaging your ram. NOTE ENDS.) Ok:

Step 1: Go to my computer icon%26gt; Right click and chose propities%26gt; Go to system restore tab %26gt; Chose turn off system restore.

Step 2: Restart you computer/Notebook and hold down F8 to start in safe mode. Then destory the file your friend sent you and do a full scan with AVG.

Step 3: Go out and buy Norton Internet security 2007.

Step 4: Go home and uninstall AVG and then install Norton. This was for if it's a virus

If corrput file.

Step 1: Go to my computer Icon and double click.

Step 2: Go to the hard drive your on and right click chose propities.

Step 3: Go to tools and check for errors.

Step 4: Repeat steps. 3 and 4 in previous section.

When some people add me to their msn contact list for windows live messenger, sometimes it doesn't add them to my list properly. I can only talk to them when they talk to me first. I can never initiate conversations because I cannot see them in my list. And when they talk to me, and in the conversation window it says 'add this contact', I keep clicking on that, but nothing actually happens. I've tried reinstalling windows live messenger, and searching on the internet to find some help with this issue, but when I've tried doing what they say, it hasn't helped. The same happens when I add people myself. At first it says they've been added successfully, but when I scan down the list to see if they're there, it says the name there, but they never appear online and I can never IM them first. I have found some other people on the internet who have this problem, but it's very annoying, especially when my friends think I don't talk to them. I just can't see them online aghh. Please help. What computer are you using? If its an Acer Aspire, then I understand the problem as I have had the same in the past.

There are 2 issues which have been causing problems with Acer running Windows lately. If you use the patch provided here (download and install it)%26gt; http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/p...

It however did not solve my problem so if it doesnt for you either, make sure you have updated with Windows Update (found in the start menu). I got an update one day from Windows Update which solved the problem. Even if you arent using Acer, make sure you have updated via Windows Update because there will most likely be a fix for it there.

ALSO, try writing down the exact error message you have been getting and then type it into Google. It will most likely bring up pages in which people have had the same message and have already been told how to fix it. It usually also gives you a Microsoft page which tells you about the problem and sometimes how to fix it.

when you are offline before you listen to music, click on the arrow on the bar of your personal message and turn off "show what i am listening to"

A) Is the program shutting down, or is it disconnecting /logging you out?

If it's shutting down, then there's a page fault somewhere.

If you'd like, you can try reinstalling over it and seeing if that helps. If not it may most likely be assauged by doing a proper uninstall and reinstall.

You can 'extract' and save your message history if you wish to.

B) Consider using Trillian Basic 3.0 (3.1 is optional update you can 'cancel/skip' when using 3.0

While this is not a plug for Trillian, I do recommend it. Saves running multiple IM programs and it may solve your issue if MSN continues to fail. Just be sure to wipe out MSN as there's no need for it if you use Trillian.

Okay when I use Windows Live Messenger and click on the "My Sharing Folders" icon, so I can drag and drop files into it I usually get "Your computer currently does not support Sharing Folders", and then it gives me a link to go to some website to troubleshoot the problem. One day I tried logging on and it gave me an error msg that said....windows live messenger had encountered a problem and needs to shut down. It tells me that everytime I try to log on. Windows switched me automatically to Windows Live Hotmail. It messed up my Hotmail account.

When I click on Reply it takes me to my Outlook Express account and forces to reply from there. What a mess! I have no idea how to correct it.

I am sure what I did in Hotmail set up POP accessing my OE has a lot to do with it. It messes up everything.

i have also just found out that microsoft has withdrawn live messenger version 9 for some reason.

it could possibly still be in its beta stage or some software bugs may have been found, that patches have not been developed for yet.

I've been using MSN Explorer since it came out, and I never had a problem. I just installed a new hard drive and the OS is XP Professional. Now, whenever I try to sign onto MSN Explorer, I get an error saying 'MSN Messenger Service is not installed on this machine. It is a critical part of MSN Explorer and must be repaired before you can use MSN Explorer again. We'd like to repair it for you now.' When I click the repair button, nothing happens. Previously, I found some spyware in my computers. So, I cleaned them. Now, when I sign-in my windows messenger 8.1, they say a error has occured and Messenger needs to close. Maybe it is virus/adware infected. So first install a good antivirus guard and an antispyware software.Run a full scan. If it doesnt work you will have to format the computer, maybe!
check whether your firewall has blocked the messenger.

- delete the program and reboot the computer

- delete all cookies, temp files and temporary internet files

- update your antivirus program and run another scan

- if no infections show up, then reinstall the program.

what that popup is trying to say is that a WLM user has put through a request to add you to their friends list... quite normal as one would just accept or decline the invitation... but there's currently a problem... to accept or decline you need to be part of the partner program, the one in the system notice you mentioned... It might be a bug in the program or some other software is causing problems with messenger.

Try installing an older version of msn messenger and see if it works.

If you are still having problems you will need to clean your computer using an anti-virus scanner, malware scanner, registry cleaner, etc.

I have two Windows Live Messenger accounts and i wanted to send the emoticons from account #1 to account #2.

I tried sending them by signing into #1 and sending the emoticons as offline messages to #2 --- however when i signed into account #2 and read my offline messages there were just the shortcut words that showed up and NO emoticons...

Sooo... Is there somewhere they are saved on my computer that i can open them into account #2 even if they are only in account #1?

you can't really save them anywhere or anything and you can't transfer them from the same computer

and you can't sign in in 2 computers and send them to the other computer coz when you open it in your computer you won't have the emoticons the emoticons are saved in your computer but when you sign in from a different computer they won't be saved in your msn you can add new ones but they won't be saved in your other computer

you can ask a friend and send her the emoticons and she can send them to you on the other account that could work but nothing else works

that happened to me before and i tried everything but nothing worked i even tried copying them and pasting them in power point and other programes it worked but they didn't move they were just a picture

since i used windows vista, i cant log in into my windows live messenger, and i cant open certain websites like myspace.com, msn.com and download.com either using internet explorer or mozilla firefox. im using a dsl cable. but, if i use a wireless connection, all these can be done without problems. the problem only happens when i use my dsl cable. ive tried many things posted on tech forums but to no avail. why does other websites can be opened but some others dont? and i havent been able to login into my windows live messenger for months but my yahoo messenger is just working fine. is it because my dsl cable? or is there some settings which i need to tweak? why does using wireless connection seems to be ok while using dsl cable its very selective?

Can you disable the firewall or any antivirus may be bloking the exe file of the msn or you can uninstall the msn and reinstall with the latest version and see and update your windows software also .

Error 81000306: You cannot sign in to Windows Live Messenger

You may not be able to sign in because of one of several problems, such as your proxy settings, the DNS cache, or a firewall (A security feature designed to help protect a computer from unauthorized external access. It can be hardware, software, or both.) . Before working through the steps below, confirm that you're connected to the Internet by visiting another website.

To troubleshoot the problem:

1.Clear the Windows Live Messenger proxy settings

Start Messenger.

Select Tools, and then click Options.

Under Connection, click Advanced Settings.

Delete the entries under SOCKS.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

2.If your computer is running Windows XP, clear the DNS resolver cache.

On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Run.

Type cmd, and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns , and then press ENTER.

If you're still unable to sign in to Messenger

Check your firewall settings:

Go to the MSN Web Messenger website.

Click Start MSN Web Messenger, and then try to sign in.

If you can sign in to MSN Web Messenger, but Windows Live Messenger still can't access the Internet, Windows Live Messenger may be blocked by a firewall. You may need to add MSNmsgr.exe to your firewall's allow list. See your firewall's documentation or website for more information on how to add MSNmsgr.exe to your allow list.

download and install the current version(s) of Yahoo messenger. Yahoo and MSN users can talk to each other.

The only thing you have to do is add the entire email address of the user you're trying to talk to instead of just a username.

I erased someone from my windows live messenger鈥瞫 contact list. She did the same with me. I checked in tools%26gt;options%26gt;privacy and saw my admitedd list and she is still there. If I add her to my list again, will the system again notify her that she鈥瞫 been added to my list? Remember, she is already in my admitted list, she was just erased from my contact list.

My central question is, If I add her again to my contact list, will she know? (considering she erased me from hers so she wouldn鈥瞭 see me when I log on)

yes you would open it up going to preferences and adding them back by removing the block. so look for privacy or whatever tab then click there name and the arrow to move them to your contact list should highlight, so then you just click the arrow to move em back over.

I installed the windows live messenger without any difficulties ..but as soon as it all got finished and when i tried opening it ..damn it ..an error ..it said .." winhttp.dll not found ,reinstalling may fix the problem "..so i tried reinstalling ..but the problem persists ! ..i 'm screwed ! ..and moreover ..I downloaded the missing dll file from the internet ..but i dont know how where to place tht..where shud i copy tht ..to the system root directory ? ..or the windows live messenger in program files ?? ..Pls help me out guys !

I cannot see anyones display pics on windows live messenger , also they cannot see mine , all the setting are correct, i have ticked all the right boxes to let people see my display pic and to let me see other peoples display pic.

also when i switch back to Msn Messenger i still cant see peoples display pics and people cant see mine. I tryed asking microsft this question but they just gave me instructions to tick the right boxes and to change the settings.

Whenever I try to send an instant message on Windows Live Messenger, the program automatically sends a message saying " message could not be delivered to all recipients " At first I could at least send Handwritten Messages but now I can`t even send those. Yes, this has happened before during the summer . It`s getting super annoying because sometimes it will work, and then it won`t . PLEASE HELP ASAP !

It's a glitch. Maybe this could reduce the problem from happening so much; go to control panel...add/remove programs...and go to windows live messenger. Highlight it ( click it of course ) and click on " click here for support information" and then after when you click it, there should be a button that says repair..click the repair button. Now, like i said this may reduce the problem because i still get those " message could not be delivered to the recipient message" but it doesnt happen all the time for me. If that doesn't work, you may just need to start talking to them on yahoo messenger until that glitch has been resolved.
