Why can't I download Windows Live Messenger?

When I download it and press run, something comes up that says it isn't a valid win32 application.....well it says the whole c:documents blah blah blah is not a valid win32 application.

what the hell. Idk what this means...and i'm computer-retarded so does this just mean I'm stuck with the super old version of windows messenger?

Somehow YES.
Try downloading again. Check the size specified against what it shows in your computer.
Are you saving it from the download pop-up, or just opening it from there? Make sure you save it then run it from the directory you saved it in.
1)most probably ur computer doesnot have enough space to download

2)or maybe there must b some software u have to download that ur computer needs for the messenger
Windows will give you any message it can but not always the correct answer to the real problem,

I am continually working on my PC to keep running at peak performance I would run chkdsk/f in Command prompt and reboot windows will check your drive and fix any problems try this first and then you could try a restore if you have XP
