People who use windows live messenger will know what I'm talking about. Can I upgrade with out losing my emoticon thingys I have a lot of custom ones that I've made myself or received from friends %26amp; I don't want to lose them when I upgrade so will I?

Possibly yes, possibly no. Chances are it will keep all your preferences and all of your customizations- my only concern would probably be that fact that it is Windows. They have a thing for erasing all and installing new. If worst comes to worst, system restore after you find out.
