every time i want to install windows live messenger it runs until a point and then it says a fatal error occured (0x8 something something)....how do i fix this?

What computer are you using? If its an Acer Aspire, then I understand the problem as I have had the same in the past.

That may solve your problem.
It however did not solve my problem so if it doesnt for you either, make sure you have updated with Windows Update (found in the start menu). I got an update one day from Windows Update which solved the problem. Even if you arent using Acer, make sure you have updated via Windows Update because there will most likely be a fix for it there.
ALSO, try writing down the exact error message you have been getting and then type it into Google. It will most likely bring up pages in which people have had the same message and have already been told how to fix it. It usually also gives you a Microsoft page which tells you about the problem and sometimes how to fix it.
