Why do I keep on receiving Windows Live Messenger error message 81000306?

I recently had a SpeedStream 6520 wireless ADSL router installed in my house and ever since I am unable to log onto Windows Live Messenger always receiving the error message 81000306. I've tried all the steps that are laid out on the help website and they do not work. What should I try to do to get it working again?

Can you disable the firewall or any antivirus may be bloking the exe file of the msn or you can uninstall the msn and reinstall with the latest version and see and update your windows software also .

This is what I found under help at ... Windows Live help and entered the error code you provided...This is all I could find, if you have tried this, I am sorry, I can do no more, you might contact your router manufacturer to see if they could help. or if you want we could connect via remote assistance or you can email me if you want me to call you for trouble shooting paulwaynebrown@hotmail.com

Error 81000306: You cannot sign in to Windows Live Messenger

You may not be able to sign in because of one of several problems, such as your proxy settings, the DNS cache, or a firewall (A security feature designed to help protect a computer from unauthorized external access. It can be hardware, software, or both.) . Before working through the steps below, confirm that you're connected to the Internet by visiting another website.

To troubleshoot the problem:

1.Clear the Windows Live Messenger proxy settings

Start Messenger.

Select Tools, and then click Options.

Under Connection, click Advanced Settings.

Delete the entries under SOCKS.

Click OK, and then click OK again.

2.If your computer is running Windows XP, clear the DNS resolver cache.

On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Run.

Type cmd, and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns , and then press ENTER.

If you're still unable to sign in to Messenger

Check your firewall settings:

Go to the MSN Web Messenger website.

Click Start MSN Web Messenger, and then try to sign in.

If you can sign in to MSN Web Messenger, but Windows Live Messenger still can't access the Internet, Windows Live Messenger may be blocked by a firewall. You may need to add MSNmsgr.exe to your firewall's allow list. See your firewall's documentation or website for more information on how to add MSNmsgr.exe to your allow list.

A dial-up connection may be timing out. Wait a few minutes, and then try to sign in again.

If your computer is part of a corporate network, contact your network administrator to make sure that the network allows access to the Messenger service.

Make sure your antivirus or antispyware programs don't conflict with Messenger. I hope this helps, Paul
