When you are signed in and you have the Windows Live Messenger Music Plug-In enabled in Windows Media Player, if you appear offline and you are listening to music, people would know you are online because they can see that you are listening to music! Pretty stupid, that ain't stealth, you know? Why couldn't they disable the plug-in altogether along with appearing offline, right?

yes it annoys me alot because even though they can doit they are so lazy they havent i had a girlfriend last year she loved chatting but i didnt in that time well i really loved her but she broke with me because i did many stupid things and besides i always put appear offline to everyone and she discovered i was online and broke with me i did this several time it was an inmature releationship.

It could also mean that, you left the music player on, but are still away somewhere (so status has been set to offline).
when you are offline before you listen to music, click on the arrow on the bar of your personal message and turn off "show what i am listening to"
