Why is it that when I sign into windows live messenger from my comp it shows I am online, but to my contacts I am offline on their lists. It is very frustrating, any suggestions on what I can do. I have tried reinstalling many times the problem still persists.

check your preferences you might have set it to show you offline when you log in. also check to makesure you have the updated version of microsoft .NET framework that was an issue for me some time back
