Why doesn't Windows Vista let me on many Internet sites and onto Windows Live Messenger?

I bought a new laptop about 3 weeks ago and I have had endless problems with it! It took 4 hours to get my router working with it and then when I finally got that to work I found that I can't get on many sites and that the pre-installed Windows Live Messenger does not work.

I rang the Belkin who made my router, BT my internet provider, PC World who I bought the laptop from and I rang the Tech Guys who I was ensured could help me on any problems all said that it was my firewall and router, in which I changed the settings to what they said and after about 3 hours worth of calls I got absolutely nothing!!!

I have a daughter currently studing her A Levels and she cannot do work up to a high standard as the laptop will not allow it. Please help!!! Is there anything in which anyone knows that could be the problem?

What you describe is trully not a VISTA problem.

You need help setting your firewall so that i will allow you to access your trusted sites and Windows Messgenger.

Ask your tech guys to set the router and firewall protection so that you can access your trusted sites....give them a list of sites to work on.

Also if you go to Tools / Internet Options there is a tab called Security where you can reset the trusted sites....but this is not a Vista problem.

I have been using Vista for over 6 months and have never had a problem.

good luck. :)

Windows vista itself has a ton of security restrictions, you can go to your internet options in order to force the computer to allow certain sites to come through, as for your messenger not working you might check the computers overall security settings in your control panel there may be an option to allow the program to run without restriction
